What do you do at MRG?

I am the Marketing Manager at MRG and look after the day-to-day marketing function for the business, in both the UK and Malaysia. I look after a range of channels including the website, LinkedIn and email, as well as supporting our 40+ consultants with any marketing they need for their campaigns.

What inspired you to get into Marketing?

Whilst I was at university, I still had no idea what path I wanted to take after graduating. Luckily in the summer of my second year I was offered an opportunity to do an 8-week marketing placement in Dublin. I moved to Dublin and started a role with a marketing agency who had a number of clients varying from gyms to coffee shops, and even Wagamama IE. I fell in love with the variety involved in Marketing and started on that path as soon as I graduated.

What have you found interesting / different about working with an Executive Search company?

I love the entrepreneurial spirit within the business! It’s great to be able to work with a network of colleagues who are all supportive and get involved with new things I want to try as there is one collective goal that everyone is actively working towards.

What are you most proud about that you have achieved in your career to date?

I am proud of my ability to go into organisations and create comprehensive strategies to improve their marketing. A few years ago I created a comprehensive, data driven email marketing strategy for my company, to increase engagement and revenue. Over 6 months we generated double the number of transactions YoY and an increased revenue of £2.3 million.

What have you found the most challenging since you started your career?

The most challenging thing is probably that there is no black & white rulebook for what works. Every organisation is different, and customers constantly evolve, so you regularly find yourself having to adapt, and test & try new things. However, this is also one of the reasons I love what I do, as it means the role is constantly changing and there’s always something new for me to learn.

What do you think the biggest misconception people have about you is?

That I prefer working from home, where it’s quiet; most days in the office you’ll find me with my headphones in, at one point or another. However, I love being around people and really do thrive off the energy in the office. I’m just too easily distracted so sometimes need to tune the noise out so I can get in the zone and focus on the task in hand.

What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?

When I first moved to London, I took part in the London Marathon with zero training. I was pretty chuffed that I managed to get to Mile 11 before having to tube back the rest of the way.

What’s the best advice anyone has every given you?

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”, wise words from Albus Dumbledore.

What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?

Organised, Approachable and Innovative

And finally, who would play you in the movie about your life?

Jennifer Lawrence – She’s amazingly talented, but also clumsy and goofy which fits well.
