Michael joined MRG in early 2008 to launch a public sector division specialising within Estates and Facilities Management. He personally delivers Senior Management / Director level campaigns across all aspects of Operational FM including Campus Services, Maintenance & Engineering, Sustainability and Student Residences.
After graduating from the University of Leicester in 1997, Michael joined an international recruitment consultancy managing the ‘non-profit’ teams and has spent his entire career within estates & facilities management.

As the Head of Residences, you will be responsible in leading the operational teams to deliver an impeccable and sincere service to create a first-class student experience. You will work to create a culture of student wellbeing and deliver an effective 24/7 service that will exceed expectation and imbed continual change and innovation. Alongside day to day operational delivery, you will also play a pivotal role in driving their commercial summer business strategy.
Your background will be in operational management in a comparable environment (e.g. student residences, hospitality, hotelier etc.) and on a comparable scale. You will have extensive experience of leading and managing teams, with a proven track record of implementing change management, influencing senior management and delivering performance improvement. You will require a good understanding of the factors that influence the student experience and a high level of commercial acumen. Experience of budget management including setting and achieving financial and operational objectives a key aspect of the role.

The Estates Department, with some 300 staff and an annual revenue budget of £26.8 million, is one of the largest Professional Services Departments in the University. It is responsible for the maintenance of c. 100 buildings spanning both the academic and residential portfolio across our Canterbury and Medway campuses.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Estates (Maintenance & Technical Services), you will be responsible for the management and delivery of the university’s technical services and maintenance, working across mechanical and electrical services, building fabric and infrastructure. The post holder will strategically plan and deliver technical services in order to meet the growing needs of the university. You will lead the Technical Services team and provide expert consultancy to the Estates Department. You will also take full responsibility for compliance across the estates function.
The successful candidate will have delivered technical services across a similar, high-footfall, public sector estates portfolio. You will hold recognised mechanical or electrical qualifications and membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIBSE). Strong leadership skills are essential in order to effectively manage the Technical Services team, and ensure the highest standards of services are delivered.

The Head of Health & Safety will lead the delivery and development of the University's future strategy for health & safety. The post holder will be responsible for both the strategy and implementation of health and safety. The post holder will lead the continuing design, delivery and embedding of an effective health and safety culture within the University by working with the senior leadership team across departments. You will be expected to source expert advice and support to ensure a full strategic health and safety thinking across the organisation.
The successful candidate will possess extensive experience of providing health and safety advisory services with expert knowledge of all aspects of current legislation. You will be a corporate member of IOSH with a demonstrable track record in report writing. This role will suit professionals who enjoy operating across complex and diverse multi-site portfolios.
