The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and Isle of Wight is seeking to appoint to the key role of Head of Estates.

The Office of Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) supports the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) serving Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. PCCs are elected to make policing more accountable and give people a greater voice on police and crime matters.

The OPCC provides a link between Hampshire Constabulary and the communities they serve. Hampshire Constabulary are one of the biggest forces in the country and provide policing services to the people of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Hampshire is a diverse region with a largely rural coverage, plus urban areas such as Portsmouth and Southampton, including ports and airports. The OPCC owns and occupies a diverse, multi-site property portfolio of over 130 assets including: police stations, Police Investigation Centres, corporate offices, and training facilities.

Working closely with the Police and Crime Commissioner and Chief Executive, the Head of Estates will undertake a full review of the portfolio and needs of the Constabulary, to devise and ensure the effective implementation of the estate strategy. Key deliverables will include modernisation and maintenance of the portfolio to ensure a fully compliant estate, facilities management, capital projects, refurbishments, sustainability and acquisitions and disposals of land and property.

As a member of the senior management team, the appointed candidate will have a proven track record in an estate leadership role across a complex portfolio. A highly commercial approach is essential to ensure the very best return from the portfolio, teamed with experience of managing large annual budgets and contract management of external suppliers. With responsibility for an inhouse team, the Head of Estates will ensure effective delivery of strategy through people, whilst acting as a mentor and assisting with continued career development.

The appointed candidate will be a qualified member of a professional association and possess considerable industry experience.

The Head of Estates appointment offers the opportunity to be directly responsible for leading a high-profile property portfolio on behalf of a high-profile emergency service organisation.
