Closes: 01 March 2021

London & South East Education Group was formed in 2018, encompassing our College (with its eight campuses), multi-academy trust (with its seven schools) and two apprenticeship companies. This new over-arching organisation reflects our growth since merger and position as the leading educational provider in South East London.

We serve over 13,000 learners across a growing school and further education estate, ensuring over 75,000sqm of space is open, operational safe and compliant, whilst delivering capital reinvestment and renewal projects currently running at over £50m. We are rationalising our estate….we are building whole new colleges….we are driving environmental sustainability…..and we are of course maximising our income to reinvest in our existing buildings through a long-term masterplan lens – it’s an exciting time! We are on a journey of transforming our Estate team to support our ambitious plans and as part of this investment are seeking to appoint a Surveyor / Project Manager.

As part of a newly expanded team, the Surveyor / Project Manager will work closely with the Head of Projects & Procurement, as the lead for the delivery of a diverse range of capital projects and programmes across both our Schools and Further Education estate portfolios. Projects will range in size and complexity from £30m to £0.5m, from whole new Colleges or Schools to component renewal, making a positive impact into our drive for Net Zero Carbon but most of all, having a real positive impact into the lives of young people striving to aspire in life.

The successful candidate will possess relevant experience in a project management role with responsibility for the delivery of complex refurbishment, fit-out and strategic maintenance projects across live, operational estate environments. You will have strong commercial and technical skills, with proven experience of construction procurement and contract management together with a comprehensive technical understanding of buildings, their services and lifecycles.

Experience of delivering capital projects and programmes in the education sector is advantageous although not essential. It is anticipated that prospective candidates will have a background in surveying, architecture or construction project management or other built environment profession supported by a relevant professional qualification.

This role represents an exciting opportunity for a highly-motivated Project Manager to take up a client-side role on a broad portfolio of projects across a diverse education estate portfolio. LASEEG values its staff and offers a positive, flexible and inclusive working environment together with a compelling overall package including progressive pay bands, a generous pension scheme (LGPS), remarkable annual leave entitlement (43 days annual leave plus public holidays and Christmas closure) and support with training and development.
