About us

Founded in 1975 with the aim of providing a complete education for boys and girls from the age of 4 -18. The three St James Schools are based in London and Surrey. The Junior School and Senior Girls’ School are centrally located together in West London, close to Hammersmith and Kensington Olympia. The Senior Boys are located in a 32 acre site in Ashford, Surrey. Together, these independent schools offer a distinctive approach to education; they aim to provide an environment in which a pupil can discover all that is best within his or her own nature.

Overview

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Estates, a senior member of the school’s management team reporting directly to the Bursar. This is an exciting vacancy that will underpin the operational delivery of the estate including all aspects of maintenance, security, cleaning, post and portering. You will lead the Estate Services team (10 staff) in the strategic direction and implementation of best practices. You will take responsibility for the health and safety across estates ensuring statutory compliance and ensuring a safe secure environment. The Head of Estates will strive to deliver exceptional service standards that enhance the learning experience.

About you

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in leading in house operational teams, with a strong background in estates or facilities management. The opportunity will suit professionals, who can generate new ideas and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will have strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to demonstrable expertise in motivating and mentoring staff. This role will suit individuals that want to deliver best in class facilities management.
