The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) is a college of the University of London and the only Higher Education institution in the UK specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East.

Based in the heart of Central London the School has some impressive facilities, including the Brunei Gallery, opened in 1995, which provides a 40-room conference venue. The estate also includes the SOAS Library which is recognised as a collection of national importance. In 2016, Senate House North Block opened, creating a single unified campus for SOAS, University of London. The redevelopment of the North Block of the building extended SOAS’ Central London campus, creating spaces that facilitate both formal and informal teaching and learning. The development included a new Student Hub including accommodation and enterprise services.

Reporting to the Director of Estates Property Services, the postholder will be responsible for the successful delivery of all security services ensuring a customer focused environment for all staff, students and visitors.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of working on their own initiative and providing expert advice regarding security matters; you will possess extensive experience in the management of security for large and high-profile events. You will be an adept people manager with strong budget management skills who excels in collaborative and collegial environments. This role would suit individuals with a track record in creating a culture of exceptional delivery. Strong communication skills are an essential as the role includes working closely with our neighbours such as the University of London as well as external bodies including the Met Police and the local business resilience forum.
