St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Senior Project Manager within the Estates Capital Projects Team.

St George’s is one of London’s biggest and busiest hospital Trusts. We provide services out of two main hospital sites (St George’s Hospital in Tooting and Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton), as well as health centres, GP surgeries, schools and people’s homes. With over 9,000 staff, St George’s serves a population of 1.3 million across southwest London. A large number of services, such as cardiothoracic medicine and surgery, neurosciences and renal transplantation, also cover significant populations from Surrey and Sussex, totalling around 3.5 million people.

Now is an exciting time to join St George’s, as we embark on the realisation of our new 5-year Strategy - Delivering outstanding care, every time – and the ambitious plans to improve our estate and environment that will support this.

As part of our new strategy to deliver outstanding care, our forthcoming estates strategy will include a bold capital investment plan consisting of a diverse spectrum of projects ranging in value from £250k to £50m to ensure the realisation of our key priorities for the estate. As a result, we will need a well-resourced and high calibre capital projects team to lead the delivery of the programme.

We are therefore now seeking a Senior Project Manager to join the team and lead the delivery of a range of high-profile new build, adaptation and refurbishment building projects across our diverse and complex estate portfolio. Responsible for providing a high level technical advisory service to clinical stakeholders, you will play a key part in the successful delivery the Trust’s capital programme.

The successful candidate will possess significant experience of developing, procuring and managing complex new-build and refurbishment projects from inception to completion in a lead project manager role. You will have a track record of working effectively either in or with a large scale, complex organisation on projects and buildings of technically complex and live, operational nature.

With a strong customer focus essential, it is vital that the Senior Project Manager has excellent interpersonal and communication skills coupled with the ability to work in a collaborative manner with a multitude of stakeholder groups. It is expected that candidates have a technical background and professional qualification in a relevant built environment discipline.

The role offers a great career opportunity to lead a diverse range of projects to deliver world class healthcare facilities across one of the UK’s most widely recognised NHS Trusts. The Candidate Brief can be viewed and downloaded at
