MRG are working exclusively with Harwell Campus, the highly regarded science and innovation campus based in Oxfordshire. We are seeking exceptional candidates to take on the role of Leasing Manager. This high profile role will be responsible for managing all aspects of tenancies on the Harwell Campus.

The renowned 700-acre campus is rapidly growing and is a key contributor to the UK economy. At the forefront of new research and innovation, Harwell is rich in heritage and was originally used as an RAF station in the 1940s, later developing into one of the world’s leading atomic energy research establishments and a place where new discoveries were made. Key tenancies are held by clusters of companies and science facilities, with strong links to academia, industry and key investors. With significant Government support and investment into science facilities, Harwell is a growing and thriving place to work with exciting prospects and a major employer in the area. Over 6,000 individuals are employed on the site and this is due to grow to over 20,000 over the next few years.

As Leasing Manager you will hold responsibility for the negotiating of new tenancies, seeing through the completion of new lease agreements as well as renewals for existing tenants on the Harwell Campus. You will be working closely with the Associate Director of Business Development and help oversee the negotiations of leases, ensuring terms and conditions comply with the business plan and broader objectives. The role would well suit someone from a Commercial Property background with a strong interest in science and innovation.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Analysing the economic terms of all leases for compliance with corporate objectives/Business Plan/Heads of Terms and assists in obtaining required approvals within the Partnership
  • Preparation of reports on leasing activity for management, partners and board reporting purposes
  • Managing process of putting Licence for Alterations in place for new tenants and assists the Estate Director on the existing Tenants’ requests
  • Liaising with the development and construction team and assists with tasks relating to legal agreements such as wayleaves and easements to ensure complete and timely delivery of construction services
  • Advising on tenant fit-out to ensure construction & development team are up to speed with tenant requirements
  • Building close relationships with major tenants in the region and prospective tenants

To be considered for the role you will ideally possess;

  • RICS Qualification, ideally with some knowledge of Commercial Property Law and Construction and Development
  • Have previous experience in dealing with Commercial Real Estate leasing
  • Have experience of working with science and research enterprises would be advantageous
  • Be an experienced and tactful negotiator
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrate a keen commercial focus
  • Be an exceptional relationship builder
  • Possess strong working Microsoft Office and IT skills
