About the client

On behalf of our client, a charitable organisation based in Surrey, MRG are seeking an Interim Head of Residential Property to take on a 3 to 6-month contract while a permanent postholder is appointed. With a geographic spread across London and Surrey, this suburban portfolio consists of residential occupied dwellings as well as a small investment portfolio.

About the job

The main responsibilities of the Interim Head of Residential Property are twofold. The first is strategic, taking a lead on acquisitions, disposals and live development projects. You will be responsible for the strategic property plan, optimising the portfolio over time as well as acting as the property budget holder preparing the annual budget and tracking expenditure. Secondly, you will lead the Property Management team, who are responsible for maintenance and operations. This role would therefore suit someone with a mixed background in general practice surveying and an operations role such as building surveying.

About you

As an experienced surveyor and property professional, you will have at least 3 – 5 post-qualification experience managing a housing portfolio. You will be able to create specifications of work, issue tenders and negotiate best value with a trusted network of suppliers. Ideally, you will have experience leading and managing a small team of property personnel and managing a property budget. You will have experience developing a strategic property plan, optimising value from property and land assets. This role would suit someone who enjoys working in a close knit team and for a small organisation with a social purpose. It is a strong preference that candidates are Members of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

Work Pattern

Following government advice, social distancing rules will be strongly enforced in the workplace once staff return to the office. While the permanent post is 5 days per week, our client is happy to be flexible when considering an interim (e.g. 3/4 days per week, remote working arrangements can be considered etc.)

Campaign timeline

The interim search campaign goes live on Tuesday 9th June 2020 and applications are welcomed until the closing date of 20th June 2020. Interviews will be conducted w/c 29th June and a proposed start date of 6th July is likely.
