About the role

MRG Interim Executives have been retained exclusively by our client, a London-based healthcare institution, to recruit an Interim Director of Estates & Facilities. This is a minimum six-month assignment with the possibility of extension. This role is being offered as either an FTC or interim daily rate while they begin the process of hiring permanently to the post.

Background

Our client has identified the need to quickly bring an interim resource on board to help execute the ongoing estate strategy across their wide and varied portfolio of healthcare facilities. Within your portfolio, you will be responsible for the operational management, annual planning, performance monitoring, service improvement and development of the Estates and Facilities Services. You will be responsible for all estates and facilities operational and service delivery matters within your remit including compliance to national standards and line management of the site teams on a day-to-day basis. Also taking a lead in the review, development and deployment of quality plans and the strategic alignment of operational services evolving from our Clinical Strategy. This role has a heavy focus on Hard FM, Engineering and Building Services, rather than Masterplanning, capital projects and development.

You will bring

As an experienced Director of Estates & Facilities from a public sector estates background (preferably experienced in healthcare estates), you will have a strong background and track record in the running of multiple acute sites across a large institution. You will ideally have worked as Director of Estates or Operations Director, with associated in-depth experience of estate and facilities services. You will be able to use your skills to make a real difference in quality of service provision, the built environment and future health service facilities at our clients facilities.

You will be professionally qualified and a member of an appropriate body and possess significant experience at a senior level in strategic and operational estates management in a healthcare or equivalent complex organisation, with the personal credibility and interpersonal skills to lead and deliver in a politically sensitive and demanding role. You will be highly familiar with implementing long term estates strategy, overseeing a variety of building types and be capable of leading a large and diverse team

You will drive change within the currently high-performing Estates team. You will be offered a six-month contract with the possibility for extension, as well as the opportunity to apply for the substantive post later down the line if you wish.
