On behalf of our client, MRG Interim Executives have been given a mandate to place an Interim Head of Development on a long-term contractual basis. Our client is a London Borough and require someone to lead the delivery of all development-related activities (full life-cycle RIBA stages 0-7), which will deliver the Council's strategic objectives and contribute to the success of the Development team.

The Head of Development will work with JV partners and external consultants to develop key regeneration initiatives, providing expert valuation and development advice and the necessary property support in relation to site disposal, acquisition, land assembly, development opportunities and delivery. Within that, you will lead on the property disposal programme to ensure capital receipts are maximised to help support the Council’s future capital programme requirements.

Finally, you will be directly responsibile for the leadership and management of the Council’s ‘Planning feasibility provision’ and ensuring the Planning Authority receives the best leadership in valuing affordable housing contributions in developments, so ensuring the Council’s S106 and Affordable Housing targets are viability tested and achieved on all major planning applications.

As the successful candidate, you will have over 10 years of experience delivering development and large-scale town centre and housing regeneration projects (through land assembly and negotiation), whilst managing diverse, cross-functional teams and external framework contractors. It would be helpful to have experience engaging and building effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including councillors, members, community groups and external agencies.
