We are working closely with a leading Contractor Development & Construction business, who are seeking a Development Procurement Director to define and deliver a strategy which will transform their procurement activity.

Specialists in development, manufacturing and design and build solutions the business strives to secure the best value and standard of service. The business is moving into a significant period of transformation. As a Developer, supply chain is a core driver of their overall commerciality and they need to ensure that they secure the best value and service in everything they do. Their investment in procurement talent will go on to ensure that their aspirations for strong supply chain performance and best value are achieved.

The Development Procurement Director will report directly to the board and will be responsible for establishing key supply chain relationships on a national scale. Providing a key strategic commercial perspective to the business, they will lead the design, implementation and management of a new cost focused, central procurement function.

A natural leader, the Development Procurement Director will be responsible for building a team, and will need to establish a category management approach on the most strategic and high-value categories of expenditure, ensuring “buy-in” of all internal stakeholders whilst reducing spend and continuing to source responsibly. They will have a strategic approach to the management of relevant contractors and suppliers to develop a mutual advantageous relationship. The acquisition of new contractors and suppliers will be managed through the provision of a clear and pragmatically applied tender processes which contribute to securing competitive advantage.

The successful candidate must possess;

  • Demonstrable ability to implement change, deliver cost reduction, and manage supplier improvement and procurement transformation programmes for a Construction business.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing minimum procurement spend of over £50m per annum.
  • CIPS qualification
  • A proven experience at senior management level within Construction, Contractor or Real Estate environment, plus a robust technical understanding of these categories.
