Business Development Analyst

We are looking for a Business Analyst to develop and maintain business models to help bring to market an innovative power station. Based on the clients heritage in plant design and manufacture, this new, turnkey, low carbon power plant solution is equally applicable for government, utility and industrial customers. You will work as a key part of the growing team of strategy and business development providing professional support to understand the financial and business implications of new customer opportunities and investments. With a strong interest in the low carbon energy sector, excellent analytical, communication and IT skills you will be a motivated self-starter and team player with the ability to effectively support a wide range of business activities


  • Analyse the external business and competitive environment and develop appropriate models, analysis and “stories” to support and inform strategy development and develop organisation awareness
  • Evaluate or develop comprehensive, affordable business cases and plans in support of business strategies
  • Evaluate the financial impact of industry trends, investment options, and finances of key players (competitors, customers, and partners) using sensible assumptions where data is lacking.
  • Maintain the business case for the overall investment
  • Develop business cases for new investments
  • Create business cases from many perspectives, for both the business and customers in support of campaigns
  • Build and maintain models of economic value to countries including the number of jobs created
  • Coach and train key stakeholders to help them increase their financial acumen
  • Provide financial insight for strategic initiatives

Key skills

  • Experience of working with senior management (including C suite) and ability to influence without authority
  • Ability to understand and synthesise complex systems, relate and apply abstract concepts to practical implications and to prioritise and justify strategic choices and communicate this effectively
  • Ability to be bold and constructively challenge senior management and orthodoxies where appropriate
  • Good financial and business acumen
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and effective listening skills
  • Ability to work alone, with self-starter mindset, as well as part of an integrated team with shared vision, individual and team responsibilities, and flexible and agile working environment.
  • Understanding of and compliance with the high ethical standards required for business development in the nuclear industry
  • Demonstrable adherence to the nuclear safety culture
  • Proficient at communicating complex issues succinctly and in an engaging way to motivate/influence various stakeholders
  • Ability to present financial information using appropriate media to senior management
