I am currently recruiting for a Bid Writer for a leading multi-disciplinary contractor.

Key Accountabilities

  • To represent the company in the delivery of tenders
  • Provide assistance delivering work winning tenders
  • Work with internal and external teams to produce first class written submissions, this will include writing sections from scratch, from interviews or proof reading and correcting documents produced by others
  • Work with bid coordinators on presentation styles and formatting of documents
  • To receive instruction on behalf of the company and to issue instruction and provide direction in order to ensure the successful delivery of tenders assigned to the Bid Writer by the respective Bid Managers and Tender Manager
  • Liaise with the Bid Manager and the bid team: Estimators, Buyer, Planners, Ops Support, Contracts Manager, Directors, Design Team, Subcontractors / suppliers, Client team, Submissions Editor / Proposals Manager, PQQ / Business Development
  • Meet key subcontractors / suppliers
  • Attend site visits
  • Photographic surveys
  • Make contact with key stakeholders
  • Monitor progress on tender deliverables
  • Attend mid-bid reviews
  • Ensure awareness of development of VE/innovation o Help translate technical input on methodology and programme in to written submission
  • Assist in presentation of risk/opportunity schedule for settlement meetings

Client Presentations:

  • Assist in presentation preparation for both mid-bid presentations and post submission presentations.
  • Ensure customer is left with positive impression that enhances our bid status
  • Ensure all agreed actions are recorded, followed up and delivered on time

Post Submission:

  • Assist in preparation of post tender responses
  • Attend pre and post award meetings with clients to facilitate operational and commercial handover of the project
  • Meet clients on unsuccessful bids to gather feedback on quality and financial
  • Analyse client feedback and ensure continual improvement is carried forward

Relationships:

  • Maintain effective relationships with key customers and supply chain partners
  • Active promotion at external events

Experience / Expertise

  • Bid writing experience within the built environment preferred
  • Proven IT and desk top publishing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent literacy and presentation skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities within demanding timescales
  • Ability to manage line managers
  • Ability to continually improve the quality of work sent out by the company
  • Copywriting training / experience
