The University, which celebrated its centenary in 2020, has a beautiful parkland campus and a new beach-front campus in the city of Swansea. The role is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving and ambitious University in a key leadership role.

The Head of Commercial will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Commercial Strategy and will lead on the development, optimisation, promotion, and quality management of the University’s commercial and campus services, both on and off campus. A key part of the role will involve contract management of a large £50m catering contract with Chartwells (Compass Group) and future 3rd party PBSA off-campus accommodation contracts.

The Candidate
The Head of Commercial is s leadership position which is responsible for the future strategic direction of all commercial activities which include, conferencing, events, hospitality, leisure, venues, sponsorships, and commercial contract management. This is a role that spans the full array of strategic and operational responsibility including change management and transformation programmes.

The role will suit commercial individuals with a passion for making a difference and devising innovative solutions focused on enhancing the student experience. You will possess wide ranging management expertise across a diverse variety of commercial services with strong people management skills.

You will have managed large multi-faceted/multi-site hospitality, leisure or venues with a specific focus on exceptional service delivery.  You will have excellent organisational ability combined with demonstrable success in long-term strategic planning and implementation of sales and marketing processes. Demonstrable success in devising and delivering commercial strategy is essential.
