What do you do at MRG?
I’m the Talent and Development Manager, responsible for internal recruitment and onboarding at MRG.
What are you most proud about that you have achieved in your career to date?
During my career at Hamleys I delivered recruitment and training for the launch of the “Build a Bear” concept in the UK.
How did you get into the recruitment sector, and why?
I wanted to use my commercial retail Learning and Development experience in a different field and a previous employer, a recruitment business, recognised my transferable skills.
What energises you about working in this sector?
It’s challenging and incredibly varied.
What’s the biggest thing that’s changed in recruitment since you started?
From an internal recruitment perspective, it’s the fact that the sector is welcoming individuals from a variety of industries to join their business and not just relying on those with previous recruitment experience.
What do you think the biggest misconception people have about you is?
People have told me that they don’t think I ever have a bad day. I always aim to be positive and happy, but like everyone, there are challenging days. I’ve learnt to focus on what I can influence though.
What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I hold a tractor driving licence!
What’s the best advice anyone has every given you?
Always work and present yourself as if you were at the next level up, so that you are constantly stretching yourself and can demonstrate your capability.
What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
Professional, Energetic, Positive
And finally, who would play you in the movie about your life?
Maybe Nicole Kidman because of her curly hair – but she is considerably taller than I am!
