One of the largest universities in the country, with over 21,000 students benefiting from a Plymouth education, the University has committed to investing around £250 million to create a vibrant campus in the heart of the city. It is home to teaching and research expertise across the academic spectrum: from science and engineering to health and medicine; business and entrepreneurship to arts and the humanities. Reporting to the Director of Estates and Capital Projects, the Head of Capital Development will lead the function which is responsible for the planning and delivery of the University’s major project programme which represents a significant long-term investment in our estate. This programme will include design competitions, tendering and procurement of contractors, and responsibility for the cost management and commercial issues arising from such developments. In carrying out this role you will deliver transformational change across Estates and Facilities, contributing to the University’s strategic ambitions.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading large scale capital programmes and projects across diverse, mixed-use estate portfolio. You will have strong leadership and management skills, with experience of motivating and leading teams of in-house and external property professionals in the delivery of a broad range of planning, project and programme delivery functions. Experience of having led projects on a range of property types particularly commercial, academic, civic and mixed-use schemes would be advantageous.
