MRG were appointed by the Diocese of London at the end of 2019, as part of succession planning and the upcoming retirement of the Director of Housing and Investment Property in the summer of 2020.
The Diocese, part of the Church of England, serves a population of over 4m people covering 277 square miles including 17 London boroughs, as well as parts of Surrey.
With a significant and established property portfolio, the Diocese own and manage over £1bn worth of property, including investment assets and operational housing. The operational housing portfolio incorporates the essential homes of clergy, as well as surplus/let assets and opportunity for parsonage development. The £100m commercial investment portfolio provides a vital income (£3.8m) to the organisation.
Reporting to the General Secretary (Chief Executive), The Director of Housing and Investment Property takes strategic responsibility of both portfolios to increase service to its occupiers (predominately clergy), whilst also maximising revenue through the investment portfolio.
MRG were appointed to execute a thorough market engagement exercise, to identify senior level individuals who possessed mixed operational and investment experience preferably in the Central London market.
The appointed candidate, who held previous experience with the Diocese, joined from a prominent fund management organisation and had also held 10 years’ experience with a well-known, advisory surveying business.
As part of an immediate review of the team, we worked with the newly appointed Director to appoint to vital role of Head of Housing.
