Using the MRG as a Hiring Manager

Recruitment is about two simple things : know how, know who.

We believe we know how.

We know and use all the traditional techniques and we are more than capable of designing and following through a complex recruitment campaign. Sometimes it’s about two parts perspiration and one part inspiration, so we will take a detailed spec, interview you as a client (this helps us in our attraction strategy) and design and place an advert on the Partner Client section of our website. To drive up potential response rates we then support this with Pointer Ads in the specialist press.

But sometimes it’s not that simple and when we need to we will push for more inspiration. This could be a supporting campaign with dedicated adverts across a range of mediums such as specialist press or on other websites. It could include a direct search campaign or even a search abroad to find that someone who is right for you. If they don’t come to us we will go to them. We know very few people do this.

Part of knowing how, is in being flexible. Whilst we might not all be able to touch our toes, as a company we’re extremely flexible. This is not just in the way we seek and find your people, we’re flexible in the way that we run our business too. Our people work the hours that best suits both them and our clients, and if our general T & C's don’t suit, give us a call and we’ll find a way to work together that does.

We also believe we know who.

When it comes to your staff we select them for all kinds of reasons. That’s because what appears on paper is never the full story and when you’re looking for someone really special we’re always prepared to think laterally to help you make a truly inspired signing. Most qualified quality people are right for somebody, so when you meet a candidate from us its about match. We don’t just send anybody. Every candidate and at every interview you will have our MRG Matching Matrix. This tells you why someone is right and if they are not quite right but close, it tells you that as well. It also tells the candidate why you’re right and if you’re not perfect why you are still a good choice.

All this means that though we’ve not got the biggest database in the business (smaller means perfectly formed in our book), it’s one that’ll work many times harder for our clients and the carefully selected people we place.

Whenever you work with us you will have a single point of contact who gets to know you, your company and the way you like to work. Depending upon the size of your business, your account manager will either work solo or with a team. Either way it’s the voice, name and face you know, every time.

It might sound odd, but we don’t believe that the traditional recruitment industry techniques to motivate (low salaries, big commission bonuses) actually work. It’s a rare person that can succeed in that environment without really losing sight of what is our real purpose – to find the people our clients really need and to place people where they really fit. To keep it all simple and make it work we pay all our recruiters excellent salaries with good success bonuses. That way they focus on meeting your needs.

We work together, we’re straight talking and hard working, and we don’t brag about size, turnover or how long we have been doing the same thing (sometimes over and over again), we talk about what we can do for you.
