We are working with a leading international contractor who specialise in all aspects of modern Geotechnics and Foundation Engineering. They work as both specialist contractor and main contractor, delivering major infrastructure projects between £100m and £800m across the UK.

The major projects team are currently looking to recruit a Senior Project Manager deliver a £200m project as part of HS2 based in Birmingham.

Working as part of a joint venture and reporting into the Project Director, the successful Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Managing the project from pre-construction through to delivery.
  • Working in partnership with other senior management staff across the joint venture.
  • Managing multi discipline teams on a day to day basis.
  • Producing regular progress reports to the Major Project director for inclusion in Board reporting.
  • Working with the site team to deliver the targeted goals/KPI’s of the project and ensure a satisfactory outcome is achieved on the project.
  • Ensuring work on site is carried out to the highest of safety standards.
  • Promoting innovative thinking in the team in order to bring client best value e.g. savings in life cycle costs.
  • Recognising the importance of meeting the programme and pursuing the measures necessary to achieve it.
  • Risk and Opportunity management – ensuring the board are fully aware of the operational and commercial issues on site and assist in value engineering and efficiency savings on the project.
  • Working on future tendering of Major Projects

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Experience and knowledge of Major Infrastructure Projects which have included a large geotechnical element.
  • Experience in delivering projects over £100m from pre-con to handover.
  • Proven success delivering safely and profitably on such projects.
  • Continual improvement approach to Health and Safety is essential.
  • Good management skill and the ability to work in a team environment (many of our projects will be undertaken in Joint Ventures so experience of this is valuable)
  • Degree or equivalent in geotechnical or civil engineering
  • Experience of corporate governance process
  • Good commercial and financial management
  • Good communication and negotiations skills at all levels.
  • Chartership advantageous but not essential
