We are working with a world leading geotechnical contracting group, specialising in all aspects of modern Geotechnics and Foundation Engineering, including bored and displacement piling, diaphragm walls, grouting, mini piling, anchors, ground improvements and environmental engineering.

To complement and strengthen their existing team, they are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Estimator, based initially within our High Speed 2 team in Birmingham.

The successful Geotechnical Estimator will initially work with the HS2 team to develop the Target Price for the geotechnical works on HS2 and assist in securing this work for the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely and collaboratively with our clients to provide estimates for works which we are tendering.
  • Understanding the requirements of our clients, structuring our bids accordingly such that the client is provided best value.
  • Co-ordinate on going estimates through the design stage and estimating functions.
  • Ensure Value Engineering Schemes are developed to give the company the best opportunity of securing work.
  • Liaise with the Operation and Plant Departments to ensure risks are recognised and outputs agreed at tender stage.
  • Preparation of tenders and presentations and other documents required as part of the submission (with the assistance of others).
  • Participate in negotiations with Clients involving both our operations and commercial teams.

Skills Required

  • Experience and Knowledge of the piling / geotechnical industry
  • Working Knowledge and experience of Estimating and tendering.
  • Degree or equivalent in geotechnical engineering or civil engineering
  • An understanding of the geotechnical design process.
  • Good communication skills and team player.
  • Good negotiations skills
  • Able to work to deadlines.
  • Computer literate
