The Mailbox, the UK’s largest mixed-use property outside London and a nationally recognised premium destination for retail, leisure and office space, is seeking to appoint an Estate Director to lead its proven team and help drive the estate forward.

Originally constructed in 1970s as the Royal Mail’s main sorting office for Birmingham, it was initially redeveloped as The Mailbox in the late 1990s before benefiting from significant further investment over the last few years to continue The Mailbox’s evolution as Birmingham city centre’s leading mixed-use estate.

Today, The Mailbox provides Grade A office space; 24 restaurants, cafes and bars including 2 Michelin-starred chefs; high-end, aspirational retailers including Harvey Nichols, Paul Smith, Hugo Boss. Armani and Heals; Birmingham’s leading 24/7 car park; two hotels; and over 140 apartments.

Working closely with a progressive owner, leading global retail property manager, and a high-quality on-site team, the Estate Director will be responsible to the owners / property manager for all operational matters relating to this high profile asset. With a first-class team in place, the appointed will be a proven leader of people, who can nurture talent and ensure that individuals are performing at the very highest level.

Ultimate responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Ongoing account reporting to key stakeholders and owners
  • Customer service
  • Customer relations and occupier engagement
  • Procurement and service charge management
  • Training
  • Marketing and Communications
  • Commercialisation
  • Compliance and Health & Safety
  • Assisting third party letting agents and other professionals
  • Liaising and engaging with the local community

The appointed will have experience of managing a premium mixed-use portfolio in an environment providing exceptional service, which goes above and beyond customer expectations.
