A leading main contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to manage prestigious rail projects including Pway, signalling, OLE and civils.

The client organisation provides national construction and infrastructure services to private and public sector customers across a comprehensive range of markets. They are currently are looking to expand their rail division

The successful Senior Project Manager will provide functional leadership for all construction phase activities within the Project Teams promoting Health, Safety, and Environmental and best practice, as well as coordinating resources across the projects in close liaison with other Project Managers. This role will report directly in to the Rail Managing Director – and will be based in Central London.

Key Duties

  • Establish and promote best practice in Health and Safety;
  • Management of multiple project teams; and projects with a value of up to £150m per annum;
  • Act as Key Account Manager for a large Rail Client;
  • Co-ordination and allocation of staff to projects;
  • Overall management of construction resources including Labour, Plant and Materials;
  • Overall performance management of sub-contractors;
  • Ensures that the construction teams are accountable for their performance against agreed schedules and man-hour budgets;
  • Ensures that all construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation;
  • Ensures that all temporary and permanent construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with agreed quality procedures;
  • Interfaces with the all other functional leaders within the organisation to facilitate successful development of the project from solution stage constructability through construction, installation, commissioning and handover to the client;
  • Ensure regular input from Project Managers is gained on third party, environmental and public relations issues.


  • Previous experience delivering projects for Network Rail and TfL;
  • Extensive Rail Systems and civils knowledge including Pway, Signalling and OLE;
  • Demonstrable experience as a Contract / Project Director;
  • Excellent knowledge of UK QHSE regulations;
  • Good working knowledge of NEC contracts;
  • Proven ability to lead teams and coach on performance;
  • You will be qualified to Degree level. Chartership is also advantageous.
