The Management Recruitment Group is currently working with a Tier 1 main contractor which is seeking a Senior Planner to work in its regional London business.

It has a history dating back over a century and an international presence in addition to the UK in North America, South-East Asia and the Middle East.

The London regional business itself is split into three operating divisions, Refurbishment & Small Works, New Build and Major Projects. Their Planners form part of their pre-construction and work winning unit, but also provide on-going support through project delivery to the site management teams and will work across all of the regional operating divisions.

Whilst there will be variety in the workload in terms of the size and complexity of the projects you will be involved in, our client is ideally looking for Senior Planners with experience on larger £150m+ projects to fit in with their strategic business plan, targeting major projects.

Reporting to the Divisional Planning Manager, this role demands an individual with experience of tender and project planning. You will be responsible for liaising with design, surveying and project management teams developing construction programmes, so strong communication skills is a must. Experience with Asta Power project will be an advantage, but not essential.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Provide trade programme, logistic plan, logistic sequence drawings and progress tracking schedules
  • Monitor construction against sub-contract planning schedules
  • Sound knowledge of current market prices for construction work.
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholder e.g. client and consultancies
  • Commercially aware of the contractual implications of common forms of contract.
  • Ability to lead and mentor less experienced team members
  • Demonstrate full commercial awareness of supply chain prime cost build ups and be able to constructively challenge specific quotations.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for value engineering and achieve best value prime cost.
  • Ability to interrogate designs and constructively challenge consultant teams.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a market leading contractor with the size and scale to undertake some of the largest and most complex and challenging projects in the UK.

In return, you will receive a salary up to £120,000 per annum and a comprehensive benefits package.
