We are working on behalf of one of the UK’s leading Main Contractors to recruit for a Land Surveyor to join their team in the Midlands. Working on a £200m smart motorways scheme, the successful Land Surveyor will be responsible for the following:

  • Setting out and checking of Main Control Survey Stations.
  • Setting out and checking of secondary stations and individual elements of the Works.
  • Assisting the Senior Land Surveyor/Survey Manager in carrying out the following: Training and assessing members of staff, calibration checks of survey equipment.
  • Carrying out As built surveys and quantities.
  • Training junior engineering staff.
  • Managing QA documentation and compliance with HS&E Legislation
  • Collating and processing information from site to provide as constructed records and for measurement purposes
  • Assessing data and deriving setting out data without assistance.
  • Managing workload and small teams (including sub contract labour) on site.
  • Taking full responsibility for the equipment issued to sub-contractors.
  • Maintaining full records, including diaries, production records and reconciliations.
  • Understanding what BIM is, the contextual requirement for BIM Level 2 and it’s connection to the Government Construction Strategy and Industrial Strategy 2025.

The successful Land Surveyor must have a degree or equivalent in surveying/civil engineering as well as experience in surveying, preferably on a large infrastructure project. You will be competent in the use of Total Stations, Levels & GPS Receivers and the techniques of Control Surveying, Topographical Surveying & Construction Surveying.
