We are working with a leading UK building and civil engineering company to recruit a Senior Design Engineer to join their temporary works design team based in East Hertfordshire. We combine outstanding technical expertise with the personal touch that comes with being a family-owned company.

Working across building and major infrastructure projects, the successful Senior Design Engineer will be responsible delivering complex design solutions to areas such as tower crane bases, scaffolds, major ground retention, gantries and cabin structures.

Duties:

  • Managing a small team of graduate engineers and CAD technicians to deliver temporary works design solutions.
  • Developing relationships with site teams (particularly Temporary Works Coordinators) and assisting them to resolve HSE issues.
  • Implementing group systems design to ensure health and safety on site (eg. Control of Temporary Works Procedure).
  • Carrying out basic research to identify engineering systems from outside personal experience.
  • Participating in tenders and PQQ’s to benefit the company.
  • Contributing to the departmental prioritisation of work and allocation of designer/checker.

Requirements:

The successful Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer must have extensive experience in Steelwork and concrete frame design. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of relevant building regulations (A, B, K & M) and working knowledge of soil structure interaction - substructure / geotechnical design

Applicants will have a keen interest in structural, civil or geotechnical engineering and an appreciation of architecture. Chartership with either the ICE, IStructE or Institution of Geologists is advantageous but not essential.
