Job Description

For more than a century the University of Birmingham has thrived by being purposeful, pragmatic and pioneering; qualities which reinforce one another to strengthen our position as a leading global university. With more than 7,000 staff and 30,000 students, we are the first civic university in the UK. Our heritage as the original redbrick', is combined with one of the most compelling and ambitious agendas in higher education.

With sector-leading initiatives, the University is investing in its intellectual capacity, its student experience and its stunning parkland campus, with an investment plan of over 600m over the next 5 years.

The Estates Directorate is seeking to make the key senior appointment of a Head of Space Management. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Estates (Development), the postholder will take the lead role in ensuring that the University makes best use of its existing estate portfolio whilst understanding how much and what type of space it needs in the future to support the achievement of the University's Strategic Vision.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in space and workplace planning and management at a senior and influential level across a large, complex organisation. It is essential that you possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the capability to work in a collegiate manner whilst successfully influencing a diverse range of stakeholder groups. Strong strategic planning and analytical skills are required, as is the desire and capability to implement and realise strategies.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation with an ambitious estate development programme across one of the UK's most diverse estate and property portfolios.
