Job Description

Optimum Group Services PLC seek to appoint a Head of Quantity Surveying/Pre-Construction Manager to be based in London. Optimum provide a range of engineering maintenance solutions to their clients to ensure peak performance from their client's buildings. Working within a number of core sectors including Real Estate, Corporate Services and Data Centre Services. Optimum aim to be a trusted partner to its clients, working hand in glove with them to achieve results.

Due to a continued growing order book, this exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor/Pre-Construction Manager to join this highly successful firm with a track record and client base which is growing fast. Optimum has a clear strategy for future growth, which they looking to accelerate over the coming years.

The successful candidate will provide financial and contractual control and co-ordination of the efforts of all parties throughout the company involved in the execution of projects to the budgeted cost and programme. Customer satisfaction will be vital while giving professional advice and guidance on all aspects of commercial issues and statutory compliance from pre-construction through to project completion. Working with and advising the Project Management team where appropriate the Head of Quantity Surveying will prepare, execute and analyse the tender documents of sub-contractor returns while identifying any commercial risks and ensure the correct responses are in place. Given the nature of Optimum income must be maximised whilst always recognising the benefits of client satisfaction and striving for repeat business.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor the successful candidate will be comfortable managing a range of sub-contractors and Client's surveyors. In addition financial reporting and cash flow management both internally and externally will be vitally important.

Personal Attributes

  • Extensive experience in construction/M&E with demonstrable experience in working in Facilities Management or a mainstream regional contractor
  • Working knowledge of plant, equipment and materials and schedule of rates
  • Degree qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or studying towards
  • Must be a team player but also able to work on own initiative
  • Practical knowledge of construction and contract law
  • Experience of working with different forms of contract
  • Productive supervision of subordinates including adequate planning, monitoring and control of live project works
  • Working knowledge of computerised cost capture / value monitoring systems
