The Position: King’s College London is one of England’s oldest and most prestigious university institutions: a multi-faculty research-led university college based in the heart of London with over 19,700 students, of whom more than 6,200 are postgraduates. It is ranked as one of the world’s top 25 universities.

The College has one of the largest university estates in the country, comprising over 100 buildings. In addition to the 5 academic campuses, the College has a residential estate of approx 2,500 bedrooms and 3 sports grounds.

Together it's buildings offer almost every conceivable challenge.

The College is a part of King’s Health Partners, a pioneering global collaboration between King’s College, Guy’s and St Thomas’ and South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.

The College is restructuring the current model of Estates Management with a strategic plan to deliver a world class Asset Management Programme of Campus based services. To drive this change the College is planning to make this new senior appointment.

The newly appointed Director will assume day to day control of the estate’s building operations. Working closely with the Director of Estates, you will provide the College with a 21st Century, integrated Asset Management strategy, with customer focus at the heart the strategy service delivery. The new model will be based on the provision of Campus based services coordinated by a central expert function.

The Director of Operations will challenge traditional practices, winning support for change through a 'hearts and minds campaign'. The new model will introduce new initiatives and service standards, reduce duplication and seek cost savings wherever possible.

The Right Person: The successful candidate will have experience in the provision of Estates Operations to a large, complex, diverse and historic estate, be an accomplished change manager and have led supply chains, embarking upon a change programme. An understanding of the scientific research and healthcare services environment will be beneficial.
